FEBRUARY CALENDAR CHANGES:

Mark your calendars.

1. Texas Mobile Imaging will be here on Thursday, February 7th instead of the 6th. It is right on the form that he gave you and wrong on the original calendar.

2. The Dummy Rummy Tournament is on March 14th and not on February 28th.

3. On February 17th on the first set of calendars I had that the Piano Man Concert is at Country Sunshine. I looked at the brochure and misread it. On the 17th he is at Sunshine RV Park. He will be at Country Sunshine on March 7th.  Chalk it up to late nights – I know it isn’t drinking!!

4.  The Amigos will not be able to be with us for a Happy Hour on the 12th. I will see if I can find someone who is not booked to do another Happy Hour this month. They will be with us on the 6th for the Party under the Palms.

5. Border Patrol:  I was finally able to reach someone at the Border Patrol Station in Weslaco. They are now scheduled to come here and do a presentation for us on February 19 at 10 AM. The presentation will be followed by ½ hour of questions and answers.

Monza Chocolate Factory Tour:  On March 5th at 1:30 I have added a Monza Chocolate Factory Tour. The cost is $8 per person. There is a signup sheet at the back of the Hall. This is a very popular tour and 35 is the most that can attend so please sign up soon so that you can take the tour.

PICTURE DIRECTORY

We will be doing another Picture Directory in February since it has been two years since the last one and we have a lot of new residents and most of our staff has turned over. However, after making many call to Life Touch, I finally found someone who told me that Life Touch was purchased by Shutterfly and they now only do church directories. So, I went in search of other places that could do one and found out that the other places that have done them in the past are also a part of Shutterfly. However, we are going to do a Picture Directory this year as I found a local vendor, Created Images and More (Rod Graham), that does it. I have a couple of recent picture directories that he did. They are in our office if you would like to see them. There will be some definite changes in what is offered and what we do to get the job done.

First of all, there are only two things that you can purchase from this vendor. The first is a directory which will cost $15. His second option is that can obtain a CD with all the pictures from your sitting and a copyright release to use them as you wish for $25. Then you can take the CD to Walmart, Walgreen’s or other stores that have the photo printing kiosks and get the pictures you want at a fraction of what Life Touch pictures would have cost.

A resident may have their picture taken for the Directory without being obligated to purchase a $15 Directory or the $25 CD. There will be no hard-core sales pitches involved in this venture. We would, however, love it if all of you would take part in this process because as newer residents to this park, the picture directory has been of great benefit to us.

The delivery date of the books is four to six weeks after the final proof has been okayed by the Activity Department so you can plan on picking them up when you return next season. Remember if you want two directories (one for home and one for here) then order two right away. We will be ordering some extras but those will be for any new residents moving in next season.

The pictures will be taken during the week of the 18th, Monday through Friday in the Outback so it will be closed to daytime activities. When you go to your appointment, you will be able to pick out the picture you want in the Directory so make sure you take your check book with you or cash. He does not accept credit cards. Lee will be signing you up after the meeting for the 18th of February. We need to fill all the slots for that day before we move to the next one. If you aren’t going to be here that day, then let Lee know so he can put you on another day.

Those of you who are leaving in late February or March, please be sure to sign up right away. We will probably need another session and in don’t want to miss you.
